Review

Where can I honestly start with this well written and deliciously addictive read?  The magic, the romance and the character development is enough to send any reader into a frenzy!  There are no words that could do this one justice and I applaud Nancy for creating and maintaining such wonderful characters and managing to throw some new ones in the mix without any complications.  Just when I thought the series couldn't get any better (yes I thought that after one novel) it did and it did it in so many ways I didn't even expect.  With the multiple POV's and wonderfully descriptive strong characters, you wont be able to look away.

I really love Camille and her loyalty to those that she loves.  This girl time and time again surprises me and has grown in leaps and bounds from Blood Debt.  This is saying a lot because she was never a rash or unreasonable character but she has grown into who she is now.  She was strong as the girl that believed she was simply human but as a Centaur she has stepped it up.  She will no longer be pushed around and is now trusting her gut because as she learns that's what really matters.  I couldn't have loved her anymore when she took "I will love you NO MATTER WHAT" to an entirely new level.

Beau may have stolen my heart just a little in this one.  He may have stepped outside of the lines but when he stated that he wold no longer wait around and would make his life his own, my heart expanded.  For those of you that don't see the big deal, it is a huge deal within the Centaur community.  He even befriended Daniel, Camille's friend and really just all around had my heart expanding and contracting for him.  I did have a hope for him that  did come through in the end, basically that had me making these strange squeak like girly noises.  Also despite his interactions with Daniel we didn't get much of Daniel himself.  I wish there were something more for him and feel every moment he has to be broken.

If you are looking for a love triangle turn away.  There is nothing but devotion from this love struck couple.  In fact restraint is more than exercised throughout.  When things got rough Camille did not for one moment even consider moving on to a different suitor just because it would be easier.  It's not that there isn't a vast amount but more that she is loyal and devoted to the one person she loves.  Even her brother Beau would not settle for anything less than love.  He was willing to loose everything just to have a real shot at it.  So many novels now throw that extra guy into the mix or when it is a guy running the show give him extra options, not that I don't love that but what a breath of fresh air this is for readers.

There is so much to talk about within this novel and so much I refuse to spoil for all of you new readers.  Development is key in this one.  You even get more of the history of the Centaurs and why the Lost Herd was hunted and shunned from the rest of the herds.  If that isn't enough to convince you then consider all of the twists that are placed strategically throughout.  Even I the one that thought she had it all figured out didn't see it coming.  Every time I found myself on the brink of irritation the author change my mind and further pulled me in by explaining why in a new twist.  Try and pass that up!  Nancy has me hooked and I was lost to the world while reading Centaur Legacy and can not wait for Centaur Rivalry.

Quotes
That's not the kind of love you can stumble across at the beach.  It was the rip your heart out, put everything you had to give into another's hands, and hope that they love you back.  It seriously worked, because once we escaped, I didn't need years, or months, or weeks to decide.  The details of his life up to this point were far less important than the man who lay beside me. -Camille

I was becoming far too immersed in this whole thing.  Since Drake was leaving it up to me, we were going to San Diego.  If the U.S Government couldn't find two hundred thousand illegal immigrants there, then there was a good chance Zandra wouldn't be able to pinpoint us, either. -Camille

I'd never allowed myself to be around woman.  Daniel surrounded himself with them, from the beach, to the park, to the mall; he even had a flock around him when he went to pay the utility bill.  I'd never seen anything like it. -Beau

A million things shot through my mind.  He doesn't deserve her.  She's just going to get hurt.  Centaurs are idiots.  Her family turned their backs on her.  None of those thoughts formed into words.  As true as they were, I couldn't hurt her the way everybody else could. -Daniel

Debt Collector by Susan Kaye Quinn Blitz {+GIVEAWAY}

Very excited to be a part of this Book Blitz!! I have had serious love for Susan
after picking up her novel Open Minds and need to get my hands on these!!!

EPISODES 1-3 (Delirium, Agony, Ecstasy) of the Debt Collector serial. Contains mature content and themes. For young-adult-appropriate thrills, see Susan's bestselling Mindjack series.
What's your life worth on the open market?

A debt collector can tell you precisely.
Lirium plays the part of the grim reaper well, with his dark trenchcoat, jackboots, and the black marks on his soul that every debt collector carries. He's just in it for his cut, the ten percent of the life energy he collects before he transfers it on to the high potentials, the people who will make the world a better place with their brains, their work, and their lives. That hit of life energy, a bottle of vodka, and a visit from one of Madam Anastazja's sex workers keep him alive, stable, and mostly sane... until he collects again. But when his recovery ritual is disrupted by a sex worker who isn't what she seems, he has to choose between doing an illegal hit for a girl whose story has more holes than his soul or facing the bottle alone--a dark pit he's not sure he'll be able to climb out of again.
The first three episodes of the Debt Collector serial are collectively the length of a short novel, or 152 pages. These are the first three of nine episodes in the first season of The Debt Collector serial. This dark and gritty future-noir is about a world where your life-worth is tabulated on the open market and going into debt risks a lot more than your credit rating.

Episode 4, Broken, releases 4/17/13. For more about the Debt Collector serial, see DebtCollectorSeries.com

AUTHOR BIO

Susan Kaye Quinn grew up in California, where she wrote snippets of stories and passed them to her friends during class. Her teachers pretended not to notice and only confiscated her stories a couple times.
Susan left writing behind to pursue a bunch of engineering degrees, but she was drawn back to writing by an irresistible urge to share her stories with her niece, her kids, and all the wonderful friends she’s met along the way.
She doesn’t have to sneak her notes anymore, which is too bad.
Susan writes from the Chicago suburbs with her three boys, two cats, and one husband. Which, it turns out, is exactly as a much as she can handle.

Excerpt
The shakes have mostly settled out, but I still take care not to spill as I fill all three shot glasses with pure Polish wódka, neat. The bottle wasn’t expensive, but it’s a step up from the stuff at the local liquor stop, which is only one shade away from rubbing alcohol and almost as deadly. Moe, Larry, and Curly stare at me from the glasses, their faces fixed forever in an approving smirk, a disgusted frown, and a wide-eyed dumbfounded look of shock, respectively.
All three are apt reactions to my life, my profession, and the ritual the four of us are engaging in once again.
“Hello boys.” I salute them. “Made it home without losing my breakfast.” They’re still judging me with their looks, so I pick up Larry’s shot, throw it back, and slam it down, his look of frozen disgust turned away. The vodka burns, and I cough even though I expect it. The ten percent still buzzes inside me, and I know the life force is kicking against the alcoholic onslaught carving a liquid path of happy through my system.  I’ve already placed my order with Madam Anastazja for one of her high-end sex workers who cater to collectors. No familiar faces, I added online this time. It’s easier to get lost in a girl when I don’t know her face, yet. Lost is where I need to be right now, and I have just the recipe to get there. Wait till the nausea passes. Get a hot shower and a change of clothes. Stow my trenchcoat in the closet by the door until I need to dress the part of Death again. Do three shots with the boys to get me started, then spend an hour of tangled limbs and ecstasy in the sheets with the girl. Finally, split the rest of the bottle until we’re both so stupid drunk we don’t
remember any of it.  It’s my routine, it makes me forget the spook and the fresh black mark on my soul, and I don’t mess with it. The next day, I’m back to normal, on the sort of even-keel that gets me through the day and the night and the day after that. Until I collect again.  Plus it saves me from drinking the entire bottle alone.

Then I heard a pounding on the front door, which I had left propped open.“Is anyone home?” called out a male voice.I went over to the door and opened it fully. I could feel my mouth drop open when I saw theguy standing at my threshold. He was bare-chested, wearing just swim trucks and flip flops. And,oh what a wonderful chest it was, six-packed and bronzed from the sun. The guy was about sixfeet tall; muscular and toned. When I could finally steal my gaze from his magnificent physique,I looked into smoldering brown eyes and my breath was momentarily stolen from my body. His dark hair was messy and damp. That’s when I noticed he also had a bit of sand on his broadshoulders. I guessed he was one of the surfer boys, as Hans called them, who lived next door. The gorgeous guy gave me a titled half smile that showed off a sexy dimple in his cheek. Theman was clearly the whole package and he definitely knew it. He carried himself like he ownedthe world. He could easily own any girl with the dimple alone.Any girl, except me, of course. It would be a very long time before I was interested in any involvement with the oppositesex. My heart was still broken into a million little pieces from my messy break-up with Jeff.“Just move in?” Mr. Whole Package said.“Is it that obvious?” I quipped.“The moving truck out front kind of gave it away,” he said. He held out a hand. “I’m Eddie. Ilive next door.”I stared at his hand for a second, wondering how rude it would look if I didn’t shake it. A bigpart of me was scared to even touch him. Finally, I just thought fuck it and grabbed his hand.Oh, God. What a HUGE mistake. Why hadn’t I listened to my inner, obviously much smarter voice, which warned me not totouch him? His grip was firm and his hands were rougher than I had imagined they would be;but what got me were his eyes. As he held my hand, I was captivated by the intensity of his fierystare. I nearly drowned in the cascade of shivers that flooded my body.Eddie had game and knew exactly how to use it. Shit.“I’m Lexie,” I said as I quickly removed my hand from his grasp. He arched an eyebrow. “Short for something?”“Alexandria.”“Pretty name.”I smiled. “Well, I’ve got a lot of work to do.” I wanted him to leave. He was making menervous. He was making me feel things I didn’t want to feel. A lot of things I didn’t want to feel. All the things I was trying to escape by moving to Florida.“Need help carrying in the rest of your stuff?” he offered. It was tempting, but it also meantspending more time with him, which might put us near the danger zone.
When I moved to Florida, I decided that I would put up an invisible sign: Slow No Wake.I didn’t want any waves or any drama. I had had enough of that in Illinois. Men usually causedwaves and Eddie definitely seemed like the heavy wake kind of guy. I needed him gone asquickly as possible. I had a foot in dangerous waters and I didn’t want to get swept up in the tide.“Hans said he would give me a hand with the furniture,” I said.Eddie leaned in very close, like he was going to tell me a secret. I could feel his breath on myneck and it made me shiver a bit. What was that I had just said about the no wake zone? Eddiewas already causing a lot of waves. “I would watch out for Hans,” he whispered. “He’s kind of aperv.”Hans did not seem like a perv to me but I hadn’t spent much time with him. “He’s oldenough to be my father,” I said with a bit of skepticism in my voice.Eddie shrugged. “Suit yourself.” He turned away from me. “But have you seen his girlfriendyet? She’s at least five years younger than us.”“Wait,” I said.Eddie turned around and grinned at me. “Change your mind?”I nodded.Eddie rested his arm on the doorframe right above me and leaned in close. He smelled likesuntan oil with a hint of saltwater and sweat. “I’m happy to help you in any way I can. All youhave to do is ask.”His words were laced with so much innuendo and sexuality, I found it difficult to swallow.“Thanks,” was all I was able to mutter. Then he turned and headed for the truck. I followed and in that moment, I felt like I wouldhave followed him anywhere.

Okay so I got busy... Okay I got behind and had A LOT of stuff come up.  Most of it really not so good : (  So I missed last week's Weekly Report that should have finished off what I got in March.  This week was going to be an April ONLY.  However due to reasons I now have a MASS amount of books to share.  Which is good because being out of work will put a damper on my book purchases...  Meaning there will be next to none :(  However you don't want to hear my sob story you want to see the goods!! So Part 3/3 was supposed to be stuff I was gifted but now it will be a conglomeration of EVERYTHING!!

When everyone was doing the Giveaways for Nobody by Jennifer Lynn Barnes I must have entered every single one!  I was jumping for joy when I won a copy from Tynga's Review <3  I find myself wanting to switch up so I can link to her awesome Meme Stacking the Shelves but beyond that she runs a wonderful blog that you need to check out if you haven't (I don't know who hasn't but there may be someone out there lol).  I also happened to stumble up the blog My Seryniti and love stopping in there (weekly) to see her posts!  This is where I won Undead by Kristy McKay!!  Please stop by and check her out, you wont regret it!!

So I will confess that despite the tight budget and knowing I should I bought With All My Soul from Target.  It was my first time in a Canadian one and though I was let down because they do NOT compare to the US ones I felt I should buy something.  The Rising was purchased for my by my Girl Friend Kristie!!  She is awesome and seeing Chapters.ca had them for $10 it worked out!

I bought from Walmart Nameless because well the cover is beautiful and who can resist 30% off!!  Also I was still good when it came out :)  With Centaur Legacy the WONDERFUL Nancy Straight sent me this because quite simply she is amazing.  I have been a fan since Meeting Destiny but I fell head over heels for Blood Debt!! Of Silver and Beasts by Trisha Wolfe Book Blitz with GIVEAWAY!

***Excerpt***
“What’s your rank, baby blue eyes?” the guy asks, pushing off his cot and stalking toward the prince. Everything in me screams to act, but I don’t want to declare alliances this early on. Not without understanding the dynamic of placements and bonds already formed among these people. But I’ll not let this hulk of a man harm the prince. I brace my heel against the wall, ready to push off and lunge. Prince Caben rises to his feet, slowly turning to face him. He straightens his spine, squaring his shoulders. “I don’t have one. And my name is Payne. Not ‘baby blue eyes’, meathead.” Big guy laughs, his husky voice bounces off the rock walls. “I’m Crew”—he beats his chest hard once, like a barbarian—“and I’ve won three fights. I’ll win the next two and be the one awarded the freedom ring.” He leans down toward Prince Caben, leveling their faces. “So don’t even think about you or your princess over there walking out of here. I’m ranked as a Colossal. The strongest Colossal in Bax’s league.” Princess? I nearly scoff. Then I realize what the problem with Crew is: he feels threatened by Prince Caben. That revelation almost makes me laugh out right. What does a big stack of muscles like Crew have to fear from the prince? The other prisons slowly circle around the stand-off in the center of the cell. Tension thickens the musty air. It coils around my spine, tightening my muscles. If I allow the fight to continue without interruption, will the guards stop it? They’d want their fighters in pristine shape, wouldn’t they? Prince Caben doesn’t back away from Crew. Instead, he moves into his space. I roll my eyes. Stupid, conceited man. “Freedom ring?” the prince questions. “As in, there’s a chance to leave?” He rubs his chin, and I notice the dark shadow of facial hair that has darkened his features overnight. “Is there a season that has to be won, or can someone gain five wins during their entire imprisonment?” Crew’s eyebrows pinch together. He’s clearly despondent that he hasn’t succeeded in intimidating the prince. “We’re in a season right now, you weakling. If you don’t win—you’re dead. Which by the looks of you, will happen in your first match.” Prince Caben nods, as if he’s simply piecing together a jigsaw puzzle and not being told of his demise. “What is the cuff for?” He points to the iron clamp around Crew’s wrist. “It’s our biometric monitor.” Crew shoves the cuff up close to the prince’s face. “See those three blue lights? Those are my wins. When the fifth lights up, I’m outta’ here.” “Has anyone ever won the freedom ring before?” Prince Caben asks. Crew’s massive arms tremble. “No,” he grinds out. “But I will.” He cocks his cuffed hand back, then sends a blow to Prince Caben’s chin. Hell. I’m up and racing across the cell before the prince hits the ground. Crew spots me from his peripheral. He turns and swipes the air. I duck, roll, and come up behind him. I jump on the cot and leap onto his back. “You squirrely little ...” he mumbles, trying to reach over his shoulders to get a hold on me. Tightening my arms around his thick neck, I squeeze. He gasps for air, and rams my back into the wall. I wheeze as the air whooshes from my lungs, pain splintering through my already bruised chest. But I hold tight, bearing down harder, and cut off his supply of oxygen. Finally, I feel Crew weaken beneath my hold. He drops to his knees, and I only release him once I’m sure he’s knocked out. Stepping around the now limp Crew, I glance at all the wide eyes studying me, and meet the prince’s. Fury ignites his stormy blue irises. He picks himself off the floor and heads toward one of the side chambers, throwing the tattered material aside as he stalks inside. I follow after him. When I step inside the tiny, dank room, my eyes trail Prince Caben as he paces. He reaches each side of the small chamber with three quick strides. Back and forth. On his third round, I open my mouth and get out a single syllable before he holds up a hand, halting me. He drives his hand through his dark hair. “Thank you for making me look like a spineless jerk.” He shakes his head and faces me. Taken aback, I say, “This is my duty to protect—” “No. In your country it was your duty to guard me. In my world and here”—he opens his arms wide—“a man fights his own battles. He does not depend on a woman to fight them for him. You just disgraced me.” Fire simmers in my core. “I’m still assigned as your protector no matter what realm we inhabit, Your High—” I stop myself before addressing him by title out of habit. “Your pride is polluting your reasoning.” He laughs. “Yes, well. Thanks to your show out there, I no longer have my pride to worry about.”

Argh, my head.

My head really, really hurt.

And I was dying of thirst.

I pulled the blankets over my head to block the rays of strong San Diego sun from blasting my
sensitive morning eyes. What time was it? Why was I naked?

Uh-oh.

A flashback of memory—a snapshot of my body on autopilot—hit me like a rock dropped from
ten stories up.

The last thing I remembered clearly was leaving Moondoggies. With Jamie. Getting refused at
the next club. With Jamie. Going back to my apartment.

With Jamie.

The rest was blurry. But what I did remember was truly horrifying. Blasting ’80s music from my
stereo. Mixing up margaritas (like I needed more alcohol!) in my blender. Jumping on my bed,
singing and dancing like a idiot to Simple Minds.

Making out with Jamie like there was no tomorrow.

I slowly rolled over to face the other side of the bed. To confirm my worst fear. Was there
another body in my bed?

There was.

Not just any body, either. But a sexy, rumpled, naked, sound asleep, Jamie body in my bed.

Again. Uh-oh.

I groaned. How could I have been such an idiot? Gotten so drunk I didn’t even remember having
sex with the guy? That was so bad. So alcoholically bad. On about a million and three levels:

a) Having sex and not remembering it.

b) Having sex and not remembering it with a guy I barely knew.

c) Having sex and not remembering it with a guy I barely knew who happened to have a fiancée

he was going to marry in three months.

d) Having sex and not remembering it with a guy I barely knew who happened to have a fiancée

he was going to marry in three months and that I had to work with day in and day out for the
foreseeable future.

Now what should I do? Did I snuggle up next to him and pretend I had planned the seduction?
Get the hell out of bed and pretend I’d slept on the couch, hoping he didn’t remember, either?
Make breakfast? Leave the country and open up shop as a WWJD bracelet maker in Tijuana?

Hmm. Speaking of, what would Jesus do in a case like this? No, bad question. He wouldn’t have
gotten himself in this mess to begin with.

I noticed with some relief a ripped open condom package on my nightstand. One of the ones Jodi
had stuffed in a drawer one time “just in case.” Thank god, even in my drunken blackout I’d still
had the wherewithal to be safe.

I tried to crawl out of bed, but at that moment the sleeping Jamie rolled over, tossing a heavy
arm over my body and pulling me closer so I was spooned against him. I was stuck. Extremely
comfortable, but stuck.

I felt his hot breath warm my skin and tried to think back to the night before. Damn it, why
couldn’t I remember the hot sex I’m sure we must have had? I bet it was incredible. He was
incredible. Not that I should be thinking about that. After all, he was taken. And not just kind-of
taken, but wedding-invitations-and-white-dress taken.

Oh my god, I was the other woman.

How ironic that I’d been out mourning the fact that my father had cheated on my mother and had
inadvertently helped some other guy cheat on his fiancée. And not just any other guy, but my
new coworker! How was I supposed to work with him now? Would I have to go into Richard’s
office and beg for a new photographer to combat the awkward morning-after syndrome?

**REVIEW** Destiny Gift byJuliana Haygert

Thirty years in the future, a sinister New York City exists in permanent darkness.
A student at the secured NYU, nineteen-year-old Nadine has visions of Victor Gianni, an imaginary guy she has real feelings for. Afraid of being truly insane, she explains the visions away as simple daydreams, but she can no longer deny them when she bumps into Victor in real life. But this Victor doesn’t know her, and turns her away. After the encounter, Nadine’s visions change to those of eerie fates, gods she’s never heard of, demons with sharp claws they are not too timid to use … and instructions.
To discover if she’s losing her mind, Nadine follows the vague directions—with the real, rude and reluctant Victor—leading to a man who knows it all: Nadine can restore an ancient creed by unveiling the clues on her visions, and bring sunlight and peace to the world again. But that’s only if the demons and the other evil forces behind the darkness don’t stop her first.

Review

Intriguing and fresh, Destiny Gift was something enjoyable from the start.  Despite my expectations from the description I was surprised to find many things I did not expect.  It's a different type of mythology, set in a post apocalyptic world and I was drawn in almost immediately.  Everything was so clearly written it was easy to see the terrifying wasteland the world had become and the struggle of the characters that lived in it.   The only thing I found this book light on was the New Adult side of it but I think that, that's because it is a paranormal New Adult novel.  They normally seem to be lighter on the NA and focus on the paranormal aspect and seeing this had an apocalyptic edge to it, I can't say I was let down by it either.

Though I had never heard of the Mythology that was in this book I personally think that it gave it an edge.  It took its own twist and turns and did explain what it was, though you don't get it right off the bat you find out and experience the gods as the book goes.  This also presents its own unique story line as the characters gradually find out what is going on and aren't just dumped into the thick of it.  Seeing I am the type of person that wants to know the reason why I loved that the Gods/Goddesses are described and their motives are put on the table.  Also the reason for the worlds distress and condition are explained later on but I kind of caught on early.

Nadine is doing what she has to instead of what she wants to.  I understood her reasoning for it but I think that she really cut herself short by making that choice.  There was so much potential with this girl and that this novel really only scratched the surface of it.  When it came to Victor I think she sold herself a little short and held her breath a little too much.  Though I understood her attachment to the guy in her visions, the one she meets is nothing even comparable.  Though I liked Nadine I failed to love her because of this.  I must say though near the end she was starting to shape up a little and it seems that she may be pulling together and starting to consider other things, like her future and what part she plays in this game of Gods and Fates.

There was some serious potential for a love triangle to develop as well.  It was handled with the utmost delicacy though and never fully formed.  As mentioned Nadine's heart belonged to the Victor of her visions.  Naturally this affection transfers into the real life Victor even though he is the polar opposite of the guy she dreamed about.  Micah is my pick and rather than his looks doesn't really register with Nadine.  He isn't quite what he seems but I really hope that despite Nadine's good heart and who he is that something between them works out.

There is so much more to know with this one and was happy to find out that the next novel should be released around October.  Though you are not left completely hanging I did feel that there were questions I wanted answered and things I need to know.  Haygert has created something new and has a writing style that is easy to fall into.  So much to look forward to in the next novel and seeing what kind of growth occurs in both the characters and the story itself!

Quotes
I was reluctant to call my visions hallucinations.  Yet now, at a psychiatrist's office, I guess I should.  Hallucinations can be stopped with medication, right?  That was why I was here-to ask the doctor to put an end to them.

Perhaps I should have been used to the disasters, but I wasn't.  I was born in this world, this cruel, dangerous, dark world-the world of chaos, as my mother called it-and yet, I was always shocked by tragic events.

Once he was gone, I threw myself on one of the bed, hugged the pillow, and forced myself to think about ponies and cute puppies so I wouldn't cry.  God, these three men- two real and one fictitious-would kill me.

"Hey, pretty boy and vision girl," Micah shouted from above the rise, interrupting the words I was now dying to hear.  "Pause the melodrama and drag your butts over here.  We don't have much time."

Review

Starting this novel I was excited because I knew that I would once again be thrust into Nelson's beautiful writing.  I was not disappointed and found myself invested in this book just ask much as The Wild Wood.  Both the world and the characters have been further fleshed out and this only added to my love for most of them.  Also turns out that there are many secrets being held, hidden and the odd one that even the person themselves never knew about.

The Downs kind of replays the end of The Wild Wood to start, but from Morgan's POV.  It also shows that the sacrifices the girls have made so far are only the start of their journey.  Leaving the families they love and the life that was never kind to them they each have more to loose and more to gain than they could have ever imagined.  I couldn't believe the amount of things these girls were going through and how united and divided they were becoming.  Though I will admit that when it came down to it despite the differences and struggles they banded together.

The main character from The Wild Wood, Cecily is not nearly as prominent in this book but there are strong reasons behind that.  No the girls that took over in this one were Morgan (who I love but learned a lot about) and Stephanie (who I am not so fond of).  There are sprinkles and bits of other characters including Nate but the focus is on the girls.  Morgan despite her secrets is still the strong and determined pillar that I felt a pull towards in the first book.  Stephanie just never clicked with me but she is a well written character, her past that she can`t remember seems to be catching up with her.

The world is massively expanded upon in this one and you get more into the world that was left in the dark before.  Remember how I said I wanted answers well I got some of them.  Yes some and not all but you can't win them all right?  The Downs though a battlefield brings so much more of the magic of the world into the story.  How things generally work with the war and all of the sides involved work really comes into light.  Did I mention a massive betrayal?  There is more than what you see going on and remember to look beyond the surface as you read.

With a change in writing style this book took me by surprise.  I was not expecting the multiple POV but those of you that follow me frequently know that I am a freak for multiple POV's!  Julie is an Indie that I throw my full support behind and will be vibrating with excitement as I find each new book in my hands.  If you get the chance pick these books up they are fresh, beautifully written and engaging from start to finish!

Quotes
The feeling of searing flesh, the screams of her sisters, the certainty that they would all end-everything about almost dying at the hands of the townsfolk seized a part of Morgan's faith and wouldn't give it back. -Morgan

"...But then, you were never like me .  Never smart and cold, and resourceful.  I wonder why that is.  Perhaps you get it from your mother."
"I thank Dunn every day that I am like my mother and nothing like you." -Nate

Nobody said anything.  Everyone just stood around silent as dead mice, looking a mix of angry and anxious.  Cecily stood like a pensive statue that should be inscribed with the words: Will possibly kill you if you pester her.

Blackness seeped from the Commanders' bodies, draining into the ground, instantly killing the rugged grass and spreading out in all directions, but heading directly for where Ameel stood and suddenly raised herself off the ground.
